ZiferGoodbye

Srečno in pogumno še naprej. Naj vam Ziferblat na Vegovi ostane v lepem spominu. Meni bo. Za zmeraj!

Dear ZiferFamily,

All of you that were with us in any possible occasion, from just a chat in our living room to weekly visitors or event organizers.

After more then three and a half years the story of our gatherings on Vegova Street 8 in Ljubljana is coming to an end and this is a #ZiferGoodbye letter. We will be open until 27th of May.
There were so many events, more than 360 a year, so much positive energy and an incredible feeling of home, that we managed to create together. When we started I never thought that someone in Ljubljana could just sit still and play the piano, or just start talking to a stranger, or clean the dishes, or juggle in the middle of the room. Moreover, some people were sceptic and they scared me with sayings that guest will eat all the cookies we have and drink sooo much coffee and tea that the whole place will be a disaster… But none of that ever happened. Guests even brought their own homemade sweets and shared their pancake toppings, or brought tea from their travels.

I’m so proud on everyone who created in their first exhibition in Ziferblat, or gave their first talk about a subject that they feel confident about. It’s amazing to how we were able to create a place where people get to share their knowledge! I’m happy that we were able to give home to the ones who felt the need to talk to people in person about their personal life, and not just communicate online.
All the projects that were created directly or indirectly because of Ziferblat gave the energy and passion that will spread and carry on the initial idea of the space. New doors will open!

Ziferblat has a very complex story, even if it looks simple at first glance. On one hand, we cherish the people that make Ziferblat special, but on the other, we also must nurture the responsibilities that give this big ecosystem a chance to work hand in hand with the bureaucracy system and surrounding environment.
The forces around us are sometimes too strong and it’s just not in our power to control them. In our case these forces were a combination of the (two sided) lack of coexistence between Ziferblat and its neighbors and the burden of responsibility that is sometimes too hard to delegate to other people. This brought us to the point we are today.

But this isn’t a sad story, nor should it be. Ziferblat did a lot, for a lot of people. The Ziferblat project was built on a strong foundation that never crumbled. And on that foundation, new projects and opportunities will grow.
I’m not afraid of the future, because Ziferblat gave me the power to believe in the creativity of people, if you just give them the opportunity to express themselves! Thank you all! Good luck and go ahead with all your strength and a lot of courage. I hope that Ziiferblat will stay in your minds as a good memory. It sure will for me. Forever!

THANK YOU! Team, guest, event organisers, volounteers, marketing partners etc – ZIFERFAMILY

P.S. I would love to read and hear things you won’t forget about Ziferblat. For me there are many but if I had to choose one, I would put out the amazing Christmas dinner that was created in Ziferblat every year for all the people that just didn’t have a chance to go home for the holidays. It was the most amazing energy that I ever felt in Ziferblat.
