Living Room Travel #1: Hitchhiking from Slovenia to Morocco

17.07.2017, 19:00
At the end of July 2016, Klemen & Gea set out on a two-month trip with a minimal budget, a gas hob, a sleeping bag and a tent on their back. They hitchhiked across Italy, France and Spain to Portugal, where they rested and rejuvinated new power at the BOOM Festival.
After a few weeks in Portugal they made their way to Morocco and curiously approached the new culture and customs. The routine of everyday life was completely replaced by new experiences and sometimes a lot of pressure.
This trip was a lesson for both the body and the soul.
Gea says: “I would like to present how little it takes for somebody to open a backpack and make a first step. I want to demonstrate how simple it is to raise their thumb for the first time, to set up a tent or talk a stranger.
I want to share some advice and also clear up some of the rumours about the danger of this type of trip.
Above all, I want to show how wonderful the world and the people on it are. I want to demonstrate how fear is actually the biggest inhibitor that pulls us back into the routine.”
This event will be in English.
ABOUT LIVING ROOM TRAVEL:
Summer can be tough. You’ve got friends posting pictures on Facebook and Instagram of beautiful beaches, selfies with famous landmarks, and occasionally pictures of a holiday romance they’ve made… meanwhile you’re stuck in Ljubljana.
For those of you who have a summer in Ljubljana planned, this could be your chance to travel from the comfort of our living room.
Every Monday we are inviting travellers and travel bloggers to take us away with them as they relive their travelling adventures. Each presentation is full of tips and ideas for the next time you really hit the road.
Ziferblat is a place for socialising where you pay for time. Students are 4 cents per minute, non-students are 5 cents. Because we don’t want you to hurry, clocks for this event will stop after 60 mins.
