How to be fluent: Myths and strategies of language learning

17.05.2017, 19:30

What does it really mean to be fluent in another language? Unless your goal is to become a journalist or scholar in your chosen language, then “fluency” actually takes a lot less than you think.

Josh Rocchio is an American living in Ljubljana who can communicate in 9 different languages. Over his 2 decades of linguistic study he’s added Spanish, Latin, and most recently Slovenian to the list. His method of learning languages involves psychology, challenges, and even gamification.

In this event he will be sharing with you his no-BS approach to
communicating in other languages, filled with lots of anecdotes and practical tips for your own language acquisition. His own humorous experience will provide a striking backdrop for comparison, and hopefully lead to a productive debate.

If you’re interested in learning a new language, or simply curious
about the language learning process in general, drop by on 17th May at 19:30.

This event will be in English.

Ziferblat is a place for socialising where you pay for time. Students are 4 cents per minute, non-students are 5 cents. Because we don’t want you to hurry, clocks for this event will stop after 60 mins.

Kaj pravzaprav pomeni tekoče govoriti tuj jezik?
